October 2010
When I first started this blog, I was terrified to write anything. I didn’t want people to read my stuff and think poorly of me. Though the feeling isn’t as strong, I still have it when I write. It’s interesting how difficult it can be to just be myself sometimes.
Originally I started the blog because I wanted to advertise myself and get more acting opportunities. Now I’m continuing the blog because it’s a way to have a voice and learn how to overcome the self-censorship that holds me back in all areas of my life.
Thanks for reading and sharing this journey with me.

Who is Allison Volk? I am an actress living in LA.
Save your breath – I know what you’re going to ask next. “Oh, what have you been in that I would recognize?”
The answer is: NOTHING! I have been in NOTHING that you have seen, or even heard of, unless you are a nerdy person who likes to buy collectible figures of sci-fi and fantasy characters, and even then the chances are slim. I have been in nothing that you know. YET.
That’s right, I am one of Hollywood’s unknowns, a woman with stars in her eyes wandering the streets of Los Angeles with a headshot and resume in hand. A dream in her head and a fire in her heart! I am one of the masses.
Follow along with me, because I’m going to take you on my journey from “unknown” to “really well known”!
And then you can ask me what I’ve been in that you’ve seen. And my answer will be, “Well, what genre of movie do you watch?”

Allison, I love that you have a blog! I’m going to read it all the time and wish you lots of luck as you pursue your dream. Have fun as a standardized patient, I remember those days! They are more scared of you than you are of them
. Lots of love! Kel
Hehe, good to know! Thanks for the support, Kelly!
Allison,
I wish you all the best in a profession that is so competitive. Hopefully you will get that break that actors dream of and skyrocket to stardom. You certainly have the beauty and the talent.
Love,
Merl
I give you a lot of credit. I am going thru the same thing. No pay, no pay. Went to an audition in Santa Monica yesterday , told us they will call us, and no call. Doesn’t sound too horrible, but I live in Las Vegas Nv HAD TO WAIT 8 HOURS TO KILL TIME to hear something, and got nothing. Just gas bills time and had my car hit while I was in a parking lot. At least $3000.00 worth of damage with a $500.00 deductable. Was it all worth it, I don’t know but I am still plugging away for all auditions that PAY. I wish you a lot of luck in your adventures to stardom. Don’t give up, I’m not. Thanks, Bonnie in LV
